Charleston, SC -- (Sports Network) - Tony White Jr. dropped in a game-high 19 points, as the sixth-seeded College of Charleston Cougars upended the third- seeded Georgia Southern Eagles, 87-73, in the quarterfinal round of the Southern Conference Tournament. Jermaine Johnson added 18 points and eight rebounds for the Cougars (16-16), who defeated The Citadel in the first round and will meet Elon in the semifinals on Sunday. Andrew Goudelock posted 13 points and five assists, and Dustin Scott notched a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds in the win. Matt Fields led Georgia Southern (20-12) with 18 points and eight boards. Louis Graham recorded a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Willie Powers had 15 points and four assists in the losing effort. The Cougars shot 57.7 percent from the field, including a 6-of-11 effort from downtown, as they raced out to a 44-26 lead at the break. In the second half, the CofC used a 15-of-22 performance at the foul line to secure the 14-point victory. For the game, the Cougars hit on 60.0 percent of their chances from the floor and 10-of-18 from beyond the arc.
