NCAA Game Summary - U-A-B At Arizona

(Sports Network) - Paul Delaney III scored 10 points for UAB, including a clutch free throw with one second remaining in regulation to give the Blazers a thrilling, 72-71 victory over the Arizona Wildcats in the West Regional Championship of the 2008 NIT Season Tip-Off at the McKale Center.

Robert Vaden paced the Blazers (3-0) with 20 points, while Lawrence Kinnard added 18 points and eight rebounds. Terrence Roderick tallied 12 points off the bench in the victory.

Chase Budinger poured in a game-high 27 points for Arizona (1-1), while Nic Wise posted 14 points to go along with nine assists. Jordan Hill chipped in just 13 points for Arizona, but did collected an impressive 22 rebounds.

The Blazers went into the break with a 41-31 advantage, thanks to a 50.0 percent shooting effort from the field, which included a 7-of-14 clip from long range.

Despite shooting 39.3 percent from the floor in the second stanza, the Blazers were able to hold on for the one-point win.

UAB made 13-of-30 three-point attempts in the contest, while Arizona connected on just 4-of-16 long range shots.

The Blazers will now advance to the semifinal round of the NIT Season Tip-Off which will take place at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday, November 26th.
