Fresno State To Play In New Mexico Bowl

POSTED: 2:50 pm EST December 4, 2008

(Sports Network) - Fresno State has accepted a bid to play in the New Mexico Bowl.

The Bulldogs (7-5) will face a Mountain West school on Saturday, December 20 in Albuquerque. It marks the ninth bowl game in the past 10 seasons for Fresno State.

"For Fresno State to play a Mountain West Conference school in a bowl game is good for football in the West," said Fresno State head coach Pat Hill. "Our players are looking forward to finishing this season on a good note and winning a bowl game would be a great accomplishment for the seniors and a good place to start building for the 2009 season."

Fresno State beat Georgia Tech in last year's Humanitarian Bowl and owns an all-time bowl record of 12-9.

This is the third year of the New Mexico Bowl. San Jose State beat New Mexico in the inaugural contest two years ago and the Lobos beat Nevada in last year's contest.
