NCAA Game Summary - Georgia Tech At Boston College

POSTED: 4:30 pm EDT September 6, 2008

(Sports Network) - Jonathan Dwyer rushed for 108 yards and scored one touchdown to lead the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets to a 19-16 victory over the Boston College Eagles in ACC action at Alumni Stadium.

Josh Nesbitt only threw for 73 yards for Georgia Tech (2-0, 1-0 ACC), but the signal caller also added 50 yards on the ground and one rushing touchdown in the game.

Chris Crane had a mediocre performance for the Eagles (1-1, 0-1), as the quarterback completed 18-of-35 passes for 142 yards. Crane tossed a touchdown in the loss, but was also intercepted twice.

The Eagles used their first drive of the contest to take a 3-0 lead on a 36- yard field goal by Steve Aponavicius.

The Yellow Jackets used a one-yard touchdown plunge from Nesbitt to give Georgia Tech a 7-3 lead late in the opening frame.

The only points posted in the second stanza came off the foot of Aponavicius, as the Boston College kicker nailed a 34 and 26 yard field goal, giving the Eagles a 9-7 edge as the two teams entered the break.

Georgia Tech opened the second half with a 27-yard field goal by Scott Blair.

The Eagles regained the lead late in the third quarter when Crane hit Ifeanyi Momah with a seven-yard touchdown pass.

With the Eagles deep in their own zone, the Yellow Jackets put tremendous pressure on Crane, eventually sacking the quarterback for a safety early in the final frame.

After the safety, the Yellow Jackets wasted no time as Dwyer put Georgia Tech ahead, 19-16 with a 43-yard touchdown scamper midway through the fourth quarter.

The Eagles were unable to respond, as the Georgia Tech defense held strong en route to a big victory.
