Dunn, Auburn Pound Tennessee Tech

POSTED: 7:00 pm EDT November 3, 2007

(Sports Network) - Robert Dunn caught two touchdown passes as 19th- ranked Auburn celebrated homecoming with a 35-3 rout of non-conference foe Tennessee Tech.

Brandon Cox completed 9-of-11 passes for 167 yards and a touchdown for the Tigers (7-3), while Blake Field threw for 92 yards and a score in relief.

Ben Tate and Carl Stewart added rushing touchdowns and Walter McFadden scored on a 93-yard interception return for Auburn, which won its second in a row since falling to LSU.

"We had a chance to look at a lot of young guys," said Auburn head coach Tommy Tuberville. "We didn't do a whole lot. It was a good mental week for us where they could relax a little bit with the starters. We practiced the backups quite a bit. We were physically and mentally drained. It was a good effort on both sides."

Justin Kraemer's first-quarter field goal accounted for Tennessee Tech's only points. Lee Sweeney completed 19-of-26 passes for 168 yards and an interception for the Golden Eagles (4-6), who have lost five in a row.

"We hung in and moved the ball pretty well today," said Sweeney. "The offensive line gave me plenty of time to throw the ball. We didn't have any sacks and I don't think I was touched but once or twice. We did a good job keeping the defense off the field and not putting them in a bad situation."

Auburn was all over Tennessee Tech from the start, marching 64 yards on eight plays with Tate scoring from two yards out.

The Golden Eagles showed some life, as Henry Sailes returned the ensuing kickoff 67 yards to the Auburn 16-yard line. However, the Tigers defense came up with a big stop and Tennessee Tech settled for Kraemer's 28-yard field goal.

Cox then quickly hooked up with Stewart for a 55-yard completion to the Golden Eagles two-yard line and Stewart crossed the goal line on the next play to make it 14-3.

After forcing Tennessee Tech to punt, Auburn embarked on a 14-play, 66-yard drive that bridged the first and second quarters and culminated with Cox's 16- yard touchdown to Robert Dunn.

The score remained 21-7 heading into the locker room, but the Tigers put the game away with a 12 play, 90-yard scoring drive in the third quarter. Field finished the march when he hooked up with Dunn for a 20-yard score.

McFadden's interception return early in the fourth quarter capped the scoring.
