ATLANTA -- Water levels at Lake Lanier and Lake Allatoona Lake showed only slight increases after recent rain in metro Atlanta.Lake Lanier, northeast of Atlanta, has inched up from its low this month of 1055.79 to 1055.95. Meanwhile, Lake Allatoona, which is northwest of Atlanta, is at 838.79 feet, only a slight increase from its previous low of 837.86.But U.S. Army Corps of Engineers spokesman Pat Robbins said Monday that it’s good news there hasn't been a decrease. Robbins said the Corps is releasing only the minimum amount required from Lanier for water supply and quality.
National Weather Service forecaster Sean Ryan said nearly five inches of rain has fallen in metro Atlanta so far this month. That includes the 2.1 inches recorded Sunday, which forecasters say is a record for July 13.
