Arlington, TX -- (Sports Network) - The Texas Rangers announced Friday that Jim Sundberg has been promoted to Senior Executive Vice President. Sundberg will assist team president Nolan Ryan in the oversight of the organization in his new position."I have been familiar with Jim's history to the organization since we were teammates back in 1989," said Ryan. "Only in the last eight months have I experienced his real value to me, the organization, and its fan base. I look forward to our relationship as we work together to take the Texas Rangers to the next level." Sundberg, who was a six-time Gold Glove award winner and three-time All-Star during his playing days, earned a World Series ring as the starting catcher for the 1985 World Champion Kansas City Royals. A former catcher, Sundberg retired at the end of the 1989 season following a 16-year major league career with the Rangers, Brewers, Royals and the Chicago Cubs. He was originally named executive vice president of the Rangers on October 3, 2007.
