FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. -- The second day of training camp looked much different than the first outside the gates of the Atlanta Falcons training camp in Flowery Branch on Friday.Only a few people were outside the gates waving signs, a far cry from the dozens who protested there on Thursday. The sign Toreanna Muwwakkil was holding sums up her position in the Michael Vick controversy. It read "I'm A Vegetarian And A Humanitarian.""Besides being a vegetarian, I'm a humanitarian first and I believe in human rights," Muwwakkil said. "I believe in the due process."
Muwwakkil was among the handful of pro-Vick protesters on-hand as Falcons players hit the practice field for day two of training camp. The Falcons are starting the season with a new head coach and a new starting quarterback."The one thing that's clear for us right now is our mission is unchanged for the football team, and that's beating Minnesota the first week of the season," said Falcons middle linebacker Keith Brooking.Vick, who has led the team for six years, pleaded not guilty Thursday in Richmond, Va., to federal dogfighting-related charges.Vick's trial is set for Nov. 26.The Falcons will have played 11 of their 16 regular season games by that date. There is also a chance the trial could be delayed if federal prosecutors tack on additional charges.Billy Martin, Vick's attorney, read an apology from Vick to his family and his teammates outside the Richmond courtroom."We look forward to the opportunity to be able to walk inside this courtroom and saying to the world that Michael Vick is innocent," Martin said.Animal rights activists said they hope Vick never wears the Falcons uniform again.Vick supporters asked that he have his day in court."I'm not against PETA, but I'm just asking them to give Vick a fair chance and that humanitarians and vegetarians stick together," Muwwakkil said. We'll have more on this story coming up at 4 p.m. We sat down with a little boy who's a huge Falcons fan and he's still proudly wearing the No. 7 jersey.
