Douglas County Toughens Watering Ban

POSTED: 11:26 am EDT October 18, 2007
UPDATED: 1:40 pm EDT October 18, 2007

Some Douglas County residents could be without water after the county increased the severity of its outdoor watering ban Tuesday.

Under the stronger ban, any homeowners caught using water on their landscaping could have their water shut off immediately.

The county also said it’s cutting off water to all irrigation meters except for those exempted by state guidelines. Exemptions include new lawns and landscaping installed by professional landscapers and garden centers.

County officials said the move was due to the lack of water in the county's reservoirs.
