Suspect In Wedding Ring Theft Surrenders

ATLANTA -- A man police said stole a woman’s wedding rings from Grady Hospital after her death turned himself into authorities on Thursday.Tacoma Jawara with social services, who is also known as Mr. J, Mr. Tacuma Jawara was charged with 1 count of theft by taking.Katherine Armstrong was taken to Grady after being involved in a crash on Interstate 85 in Gwinnett County late last month.While she was there, police said, her wedding rings, which Katherine designed, were stolen.
“There's not another set like it in the world and she wore them everyday,” said Alan Armstrong, her husband. "They're very sort of antiquey and ornate and sort of delicate and she liked that style."He wants his two young sons, Jackson, 4, and Adam, 20 months, to have something their mother loved.“It’s something you can have and hold on to and cherish and kind of get some sense of what she's like,” said Armstrong.He says there is surveillance video at Grady of Jawara with a property bag on the day Katherine died.Police said they planned on arresting Jawara at work Wednesday, but he didn't show.Tacoma is being processed in the Fulton County Jail and he remains an employee of Grady Memorial Hospital.
