Police: Kidnapped Woman Still Missing

POSTED: 2:15 pm EDT May 16, 2008
UPDATED: 2:26 pm EDT May 16, 2008

Police arrested a DeKalb County man Friday afternoon after he allegedly kidnapped a woman from a MARTA bus at gunpoint.

DeKalb police spokeswoman Mekka Parish said a man pulled his car in front of a MARTA bus Friday morning and forced the bus to stop near the intersection of Snapfinger Woods Drive and Wesley Chapel Road.

The man, whose name has not been released, then boarded the bus and dragged a woman off at gunpoint, Parish said.

A joint investigation by DeKalb and MARTA police led officers to a home a couple of miles away on Tree Bark Trail, Parish said.

Officials said that after a standoff with SWAT officer, the man surrendered.

Police had not yet found the kidnapping victim and did not know the relationship between the suspect and victim, Parish said.
