ATLANTA -- State Superintendent of Schools Kathy Cox invalidated the social studies scores that sixth-and-seventh graders in Georgia received on their Criterion-Referenced Competency Tests, CRCT.Cox sent local superintendents a message on Wednesday regarding social studies CRCT scores for sixth-and-seventh grades. In the message, Cox said that after monitoring the scores the Georgia Department of Education deemed the sixth-and-seventh grade social studies scores “implausibly low”.Cox said the decision to invalidate the scores was based on a need to revise the curriculum and assessments.
“Additionally, we will empanel a group of teachers and curriculum leaders to revise the social studies curriculum in grades six and seven and help us begin the process of developing new assessments for these grades,” Cox said in the message.
