Six Firefighters Hurt While Battling Lithonia House Fire

LITHONIA, Ga. -- Six firefighters suffered minor injuries while battling a house fire in Lithonia.The fire started around 8 a.m. in the basement of the nine-bedroom home on Sandy Lake Drive."My mom's hysterical right now," said fire victim Michael Madison Jr. "This was her pride and joy. They built it and they are going to be devastated."The firefighters' injuries range from sprained ankles to heat exhaustion, according to DeKalb Fire Capt. Eric Jackson.
The fire turned the home into a pile of rubble."We've had multiple collapse issues," Jackson said. "We've had brick facade falling, We've had the back portion of the house to fall. The front has fallen."No one was home when the fire started, Jackson said.Firefighters are looking for the cause.
