Kansas City, KA -- (Sports Network) - The New England Revolution, who clinched their spot in the Major League Soccer Cup playoffs for the seventh straight year last week, look to hold onto home-field advantage for the first round when they travel to take on the Kansas City Wizards at CommunityAmerica Ballpark on Saturday. The Revs (12-8-7) are currently second in the Eastern Conference table, and with the Columbus Crew already clinching the top seed in the East bracket with three games to go, they will be looking to hold off the Chicago Fire, who are just a point back in third. The Wizards (8-10-9), on the other hand, are battling for their playoff lives. They are currently in sixth in the East, just a point out of the last playoff spot. "Even if we make the playoffs, which is the plan, we'll still reflect back on a couple of points we dropped in April, May, June," Wizards captain Jimmy Conrad said. "Those points matter." New England has won the past three contests against the Wizards, including a 3-1 victory at Community America Ballpark in April the last time they played. The win made the revs one of just two MLS teams to defeat the Wizards at home this season. The Revs are coming off a 2-2 draw at home vs. Real Salt Lake in which they came back from a 2-0 deficit last week. They will be looking to show better form down the stretch to get ready for a playoff drive. "There's no question about the character of the players," Revs coach Steve Nicol said. "But we have to tighten up. We have to do the small things better. ... It's huge that we're two-nil down at home and come away with a point and almost steal it. It just tells you that we're never down. It's another reminder to the players as a group that they're never done, and never count them out." The Wizards are coming off a draw of their own, 1-1 vs. Chicago last week. Despite not getting the full points at home, the Wizards gained ground because the teams they are chasing all lost. "It wasn't quite what we wanted, but good teams get results," the Wizards Herculez Gomez said. "And that was a result: we came back from a goal down in the second half, got an early goal and put ourselves back in, so from that standpoint we're pleased. "We're professionals. We've been in this situation. This isn't that big of a deal. We picked up a vital point when everyone else in the league didn't. So, if anything, we came up big this week." The Revs will be without young attackers Kenny Mansally and Sainey Nyassi because of their participation with the Gambian national team while Wizards veteran attackers Claudio Lopez and Josh Wolff are both expected to play with niggling knocks. These teams close the regular season against each other with New England hosting on Oct. 25.
