Emmy award-winning multimedia journalist Mike Paluska joined CBS46 in August 2009.

Mike started is news reporting career at KBIM News 10 in Roswell, New Mexico, a city made famous by supposed Aliens.

After working at KBIM, Mike decided to move to Albuquerque and worked three years reporting for KRQE-TV. While there, he covered the trial of a Northern New Mexico cult leader Wayne Bent. During that trial, National Geographic was filming a documentary "Inside a cult" and Mike was featured in the documentary - his appearance included interviewing the self proclaimed messiah.

Mike has covered a slew of stories during his career. His favorite was learning about the history of chimpanzees in a lab in New Mexico in which chimps were used for medical experiments. In the end, Mike covered the "happy ending", because the chimps were sprung from the lab and are learning to live in family groups in a sanctuary in Florida.

Mike won an Associated Press Award for Breaking news.

Some facts viewers may find interesting about Mike is that he is a twin, and is fluent in Spanish after spending four years in Puerto Rico. He attributes his life of storytelling, travel and news to his time spent in Puerto Rico, the rich culture and experiences the city had to offer.

He enjoys eating hatch green chile peppers, cooking, grilling, reading true crime, and hiking. Also in his spare time, Mike enjoys golfing and spending time with his parents three dachshunds. Mike is a graduate of the Grady College of Journalism, at the University of Georgia in Athens. He graduated cum laude with a degree in broadcast news.
