Brandon Rudat

Brandon Rudat joined CBS Atlanta News in May 2010 as the morning anchor for Better Mornings Atlanta, weekdays from 5-7 a.m. and 9-10 a.m.

An Emmy award winning journalist, Brandon came to Atlanta after anchoring and reporting for KTLA 5 News in Los Angeles, CA. Prior to KTLA-TV, Brandon was a news anchor at WHDH-TV, NBC 7News, in Boston, MA . Before joining WHDH-TV, Brandon was an investigative reporter and fill-in anchor at WVIT-TV in Hartford, CT. From going undercover and busting illegal street vendors to exposing a company manufacturing illegal fire extinguishers, Brandon broke some of the states' biggest stories.

In May 2007, Brandon won an Emmy for an exclusive story he did about a fire chief who was also a convicted child sex offender. He was also nominated for 8 other Emmy Awards including Best Investigative Reporting and for his work at the 2006 Winter Olympics Games in Torino, Italy, for NBC News. He was a host/correspondent for the show "The Olympic Zone" during the 2006 Olympics. He interviewed athletes and explored Italy giving viewers and in-depth look at the culture and lifestyle of the country.

Before WVIT-TV, Brandon worked at a cable news network in New York City as a political reporter. As a one-man-band reporter, he covered the shooting of a city councilman inside City Hall that made national headlines. He landed his first start on-air working as the morning anchor and reporter for WHAG-TV, NBC 25, in Maryland.

Brandon wasn't always in front of the camera – his career started behind the scenes. He worked as an intern for the "Today" show, then worked his way up to producer for WNBC-TV's morning news show, "Today in New York." While there, he covered the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and the aftermath.

Brandon is a graduate of New York University and is also the recipient of an Associated Press award for Best Enterprise Reporting. When he's not reporting, Brandon is out doing anything athletic. He's traveled through Europe playing soccer and spends every winter snowboarding and skiing.
