ATLANTA (AP) - A missionary doctor who's been released from an Atlanta hospital after recovering from Ebola says he's "thrilled to be alive." Dr. Kent Brantly is one of two American aid workers who were treated at Emory University Hospital after being infected with the potentially deadly virus in Africa. The other, Nancy Writebol, quietly left the hospital on Tuesday. Doctors say neither patient's blood shows evidence of Ebola.
MACON, Ga. (AP) - Democrat Michelle Nunn is portraying Republican David Perdue as an obstructionist as the race for Senate seat heats up. The two met for their first candidate forum. Perdue didn't respond to the attacks, focusing instead on criticizing the policies of national Democrats.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - An Alabama federal judge could avoid prosecution for domestic violence in Atlanta. A defense lawyer says Judge Mark Fuller is entering treatment for an unspecified reason. The Atlanta court offers pre-trial intervention and diversion programs for some defendants. Fuller was arrested on a misdemeanor battery charge.
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - The TVA has voted to retire the coal-fired Allen Fossil Plant in Memphis and replace it with a natural-gas facility. Environmental groups have said the Allen plant causes a pollution hazard and it should be shut down.
