Walgreens is working with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control to provide free HIV testing and targeted HIV/AIDS resources at Walgreens locations in heavily affected areas.
This is a part of a national campaign to respond to HIV/AIDS in the United States.
Rapid oral HIV tests will be offered free of cost on a first come first serve basis in your area, Wednesday through Friday.
Testing will take place at select locations from 3 p.m. – 7 p.m. each day.
Results will be provided within 20 minutes of screening.
In addition, pharmacists at 300 Walgreens locations across the country will offer one-on-one counseling and other support services to customers and their families that are living with HIV/AIDS.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), more than one million Americans are living with HIV today, yet 1 in 5 of those infected don't know their status. And, one-third are diagnosed so late in the course of their infection that they develop AIDS within one year.
