Hair thieves hit another Clayton County beauty supply store

Posted: Updated:

A beauty supply store in Morrow is the latest to be burglarized for its hair supply.

Surveillance video shows four people breaking into the store around 5 a.m. Friday and running out with handfuls of packages of Malaysian and Indi Remy brand hair.

Store manager Christine Ji estimates each packet stolen to cost $200, and she said about $100,000 worth of hair was stolen.

The store, Beauty Masters, is part of a chain of six stores in the area.  Four of them have also been broken into and had hair stolen, including stores in Riverdale and the Atlanta area on Camp Creek Parkway and Greenbriar Parkway. The  Atlanta-area locations were broken into several months ago.

Ji said she hopes to warn other beauty supply stores to look out for suspicious-looking customers who come into their shops during store hours and don't buy anything but peruse through merchandise and check out entrances and exits to the store.

Ji said she hopes customers and salon owners will look out for the stolen hair and let police know if they see anything suspicious.

"Only buy from authorized dealers," Ji said.
