Family fears missing Lithonia woman in danger

Badicea McLeod is struggling with her emotions. Her best friend, the youngest of her six children is missing.

"She is the last girl, but she was so close to me. When she comes to my house and opens the door the first thing she would say is 'mother what are you doing, where are you?' It's really tough right now," said McLeod.

Shawndell McLeod has been missing for nearly a week. Police said she was last seen early Sunday morning at her Lithonia home. Police said she was due at work at 3 a.m. Sunday, but she never arrived. Investigators said her car has been found.

"The last time I talked to her was Saturday and she was to come over to my house to have dinner Sunday but I never heard from her," McLeod said.

Family members said none of it makes any sense. They said the 35 year-old was happy, enjoyed life and loved her family.

"She would never step away from the family like that, especially with my mom," said Ovid McLeod, Shawndell's brother.

Shawndell McLeod was not married but her family said she recently came out of a difficult relationship. Saturday afternoon the McLeod's went door to door in Shawndell's neighborhood with the hope that someone knows something about where the Lithonia woman is.

"If anybody knows where she is just let us know. That is all we are asking for," Ovid McLeod said.

Friday DeKalb County police issued a look out for McLeod. Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Shawndell McLeod should contact the DeKalb County Police Department's Special Victims Unit at 770-724-7710.
