ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -

Atlanta Weight Watchers groups have collected thousands of pounds of food for the Fourth Annual Lose For Good campaign.

Within seven weeks, the groups have lost over 12,000 pounds and collected over 7,000 pounds of food to donate to a variety of local food banks to help their neighbors in need.

On Thursday between 12 p.m. and 1 p.m., many of the food items will be delivered to Buckhead Christian Ministry to help feed neighboring families who are struggling with hunger.

Weight Watchers created the Lose For Good campaign to help fight obesity and hunger on a local, national and global level.

Weight Watchers will donate up to $1 million to two hunger fighting organizations: Share Our Strength and Action Against Hunger.

Since the campaign's inception, Weight Watchers has donated $3 million to its charitable partners and has collected nearly 5 million pounds of food for local food banks across the country.
