Sunday alcohol sales to begin for some metro Atlanta cities

EAST POINT, GA (CBS46) -

Several cities across metro Atlanta approved a referendum allowing for the sale of alcohol on Sundays.

Starting on Sunday, November 20, customers will be able to purchase alcohol at grocery and liquor stores between the hours of 12:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. in Alpharetta, College Park, East Point, Sandy Springs, Snellville and Woodstock.

On November 8, residents approved the package sales of malt beverages, wine and distilled spirits on Sundays.

Earlier this year, the Georgia Legislature passed a law allowing local governments to let voters weigh in on the issue of alcohol sales.

On Friday, Nov. 18, at 4:30 p.m. Milton's City Council will hold a special called meeting during which there will be one vote.

This vote will concern the acceptance of a resolution declaring the results of the Nov. 8 referendum on Sunday Sales of Alcohol.
