1 killed, 16 injured after 45-car pileup near Nashville

HENDERSONVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

One person was killed and 16 people were injured Thursday after multiple crashes involving about 45 cars in Hendersonville, Tenn.

Seven people, two children and five adults, were transported to Sumner Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Nine people were taken to Hendersonville Medical Center with minor injuries.

The wrecks happened at about 7:30 a.m. near Exit 8. Thick fog and ice are possible factors in the crashes.

One school bus was involved in the wrecks, but no children were hurt, said Sgt. Jim Vaughn with Hendersonville police.

People involved but were not injured were taken to the Sumner County Administration building in Gallatin.

The name of the deceased victim has not been released by authorities.
