The City of Newnan is offering a $20,000 reward after police found the body of a missing 17-year-old male on December 19.

Coweta 911 received a call from a passerby that they thought there was a body in the creek, near the bridge on Summergrove Parkway.

Newnan police officers found a body, floating face down, clothed in only an undershirt and underpants.

Police identified the body as that of Blake Tyler Chappell from Senoia.

Chappell died of a gunshot would, according to police.

The teen was last seen at a friend's house in the Olmstead subdivision, near Vanderbilt Parkway, on Oct. 15. His mother reported him missing on the 16th.

Chappell left the friend's house walking toward another friend's house on Highwoods Parkway in the Summergrove subdivision. He never arrived at the friend's house.

Police said they do not suspect drugs or gangs as factors in this case. They do not have a motive or any suspects.

If you have information, you may contact the Newnan Police Department TIP line at (770) 254-2350, or Sgt. Brent Blankenship at (770) 254-2355, extension 125.

The reward will be paid to the person that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the death of Chappell.
