ATLANTA (CBS46) -

Atlanta homicide detectives are searching for the man who shot and killed a woman on Angier Avenue in Northeast Atlanta just after midnight Wednesday.

Lt. Paul Guerrucci said 37-year-old Tanieshia Evans was walking in the road when the man pulled up in an SUV, possibly white. Witnesses told police the two began arguing.

"We're not clear about their exact relationship. We just know they know each other, and that was probably why they were arguing based on some past they had together," said Guerrucci.

Police said the man pulled out a gun and shot Evans, at least once, in the chest. She was taken to an area hospital but was pronounced dead.

The shooter fled the scene.

Police have not released a description of the suspect.
