2011 was a great year for the Georgia film industry, which brought in billions for the state.
According to the Georgia Film, Music and Digital Entertainment office, television networks, Hollywood studios, production companies and independent producers invested more than $689.3 million in 2011. The economic impact of these investments was $2.4 billion for our state.
Here are just a few of the movies filmed in Georgia last year:
Joyful Noise - In theaters Jan. 13, 2012. Dolly Parton and Queen Latifah lead this film about a church choir and their road to a national competition. Filmed in Atlanta, Conyers, Dallas, Decatur, Smyrna, Peachtree City and other cities. (Watch the trailer here)
Wanderlust - In theaters Feb. 24, 2012. Jennifer Aniston and Paul Rudd try living on a rural commune where free love rules. Filmed in Clarkesville, Lawrenceville and Atlanta. (Watch the trailer here)
Three Stooges - In theaters April 4, 2012. The Farrelly Brothers (There's Something About Mary) place Larry, Moe and Curly into a modern story about saving an orphanage, a murder plot and reality TV. Filmed in Cartersville, Atlanta and other cities. (Watch the trailer here)
American Reunion - In theaters April 6, 2012. The gang from American Pie is back for the latest installment of this franchise. Filmed in Atlanta, Conyers and other cities. (Watch the trailer here)
The Odd Life of Timothy Green - In theaters Aug. 15, 2012. Jennifer Garner and Joel Edgerton play a married couple who bury their wishes for a child in the backyard, only to be surprised when Timothy Green shows up in their life. Filmed in Albany, Atlanta, Canton, Dawson, Decatur, Alpharetta and Newnan. (Watch the trailer here)
