Occupy Atlanta fights to keep family in foreclosed home

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -

Occupy Atlanta is throwing a party in front of the Pittman family home in Atlanta, and says it won't leave until Chase Bank reconsiders kicking the family out.

"My grandma was given a predatory loan of $300,000," said Carmen Pittman, whose grandmother owned the home and didn't tell her family she was in financial trouble until just before she died in November. "They want $412,000 back for this house, this house not even worth that."

Carmen thinks the home is only worth about $100,000. The family was supposed to leave the home by Jan. 5.

Vincent Castillenti, with Occupy Atlanta says he hopes the groups efforts will force Chase Bank to reconsider not only kicking the family out, but the loan itself.

"We're going to put our bodies on the line so this family isn't kicked out of their home," Castillenti said.

Chase Bank wasn't immediately available for comment, due to the holiday weekend.
