ATLANTA (AP) -

The president of the University of Richmond will deliver a lecture at Emory University on digital scholarship.

Edward L. Ayers will speak at the grand opening of Emory's new "research commons" where graduate students and faculty can work on projects together. The aim of the commons is to find new ways of using technology to do academic research.

Ayers will speak Feb. 1 at 6 p.m. during a ceremony at Woodruff Library on the Emory campus in Atlanta.

Ayers oversaw a project that made hundreds of historical documents detailing the lives of people living in Augusta County, Va., and Franklin County, Pa., available to the public online. He was one of the first scholars to integrate the web into a digital humanities project.
