Two arrested in stolen AT&T phone cables

A Bibb Sheriff's Lieutenant arrested two Macon men who allegedly attempted to sell stolen AT&T phone cables to a local recycling company.

On Monday morning around 11:30a.m., reports say the phone cables were stolen from telephone poles in a community in west Bibb. 

According to a witness, Richard Lee Postell, 20, was using an extension ladder to climb the telephone poles, and removed AT&T phone cables from the phone lines along Hawaiian Village Drive.

Postell and 21-year-old Jeremy Daniel Selph were arrested as they attempted to sell the stolen cables to a local recycling company.

Deputies recovered over 200 feet of cable which weighed approximately 225 lbs.

Postell is charged with theft by taking- felony and damage to property.

Selph is currently being held in the Bibb County law enforcement complex for the charge of theft by receiving- felony.
