Remains found identified as those of missing Ellenwood teen
ELLENWOOD, GA (CBS46) -
The search for a 14-year-old girl who was reported missing nearly two years ago is over.
An autopsy released Tuesday confirmed that remains discovered on November 19, 2010 belong to Anastasia Hill.
Hill was reported missing from her home on Clark Road in Ellenwood on March 6, 2010.
Investigators said Hill's body was found in a wooded area on the side of Highway 138 in Stockbridge.
A medical examiner has determined Hill's death was a homicide.
Now the victim's mother is demanding answers.
"I want to know what happened that night," said Elisa Hill.
The confirmation that the remains are her daughter's is crushing for Hill.
"I couldn't believe that Anastasia was dead. It just, I couldn't believe it," said Hill.
Hill and 14-year old Anastasia were always close. She had kept the faith that one day soon Anastasia would return. But now she's left to explain her small children what happened their sister.
"I have a 7 and 9-year-old and I have to explain to them what happened. They're going to ask me and I want to say this is what happened. I want them to know," said Hill.
Initially, Henry County police believed the 14-year-old had run away, but her mother never bought that theory.
"Because she's never done this, she's never ran away before," said Hill.
Now Hill is simply trying to keep it together, not only for herself, but for her remaining children.
She has a message for her child's killer.
"I hope that you can find it in your heart to come forward," Hill said wiping back tears, "I don't know how you can live everyday with hurting someone because she was a 14-year-old. She did not do anything to anyone. She had plans to go to college, she had goals in life and she wasn't a bad child," said Hill.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Henry County Police Department at 770-288-8200.
