DEKALB COUNTY, GA (CBS46) -

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward pleaded guilty to reckless driving in a DeKalb County courtroom Wednesday morning, stemming from a DUI arrest in last year.

Ward was arrested in the early morning hours of July 9 after a MARTA police officer saw him hit a curb and drive out of his lane on Buford Highway.

According to a spokesperson with the DeKalb County Police Department, the MARTA officer contacted DeKalb County Police to conduct a field sobriety test on Ward after pulling him over.

Ward was then arrested for DUI and taken to the DeKalb County Jail.

Wednesday, Ward pleaded guilty to failure to maintain a lane and pleaded no contest to his charge of reckless driving.

He was sentenced to 12 months on probation with credit for one day served.

The judge also fined him $2,000 and ordered him to perform 80 hours of community service, Risk Reduction, and an alcohol evaluation and any treatment recommended.
