Bert Gary, MDIV Chaplain A native Atlantan, Chaplain Bert Gary began with Harbor Grace Hospice as the Inpatient Unit Resident Chaplain in 2010. Once he completed his residency, he was asked to permanently join the Harbor Grace team as the Home Care Chaplain. Bert has been an ordained minister for 26 years, and has served as a local church pastor, a college educator, and a magazine staff writer in Mississippi, California and Georgia. He is also a published author in Bible and theology. Bert has been teaching seminary, college, and church groups semiannually in Israel as an Adjunct Faculty Member with the Society for Biblical Studies since 1994. He has also had the privilege of teaching in Turkey and Greece. For eleven years he directed and taught in two United Methodist graduate programs for local pastors for the Jerusalem Institute for Biblical Exploration (formerly the Jerusalem Center for Biblical Studies) and for the Candler School of Theology at Emory University. Bert holds degrees in theology, psychology and music from Emory. Bert has three adult children – Martha, Will and Anna - and his interests include music, jogging, traveling and photography.
