STONE MOUNTAIN, GA (CBS46) -

DeKalb County Police are putting parents on alert after receiving reports about two attempted child abductions along the North Hairston Road corridor in Stone Mountain.

In each case, an attempted abductor tried to grab a female child in the area around the Stonebridge Apartment complex.  Luckily, each girl was able to fight off her attacker.

The first attempted abduction happened on Feb. 21 around 7:30 a.m.

According to a spokeswoman with the DeKalb County Police Department, an 11-year-old girl was walking to school with her friends from the apartment complex when they noticed a man following them.

The man, who had dread locks and was wearing a green camouflage coat with a fur hood, grabbed the girl and tried to cover her mouth, but the girl and her friends started screaming and were able to fight him off.

The second incident happened on March 4 around 8:30 p.m.

A 9-year-old girl was walking to her apartment at the complex when man wearing a black ski mask stopped her in the breezeway. The man was able to drag the girl out into a wooded area, but she was able to fight the man off without getting hurt, according to police.

Police did not have sketches to release of either suspect.

If you have any information about the attempted abductions, call the DeKalb County Police Department at 770-724-7850.
