Woman arrested in Buckhead PTA theft

ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -

Atlanta investigators arrested a 47-year-old woman in connection to a theft from a Buckhead elementary school's Parent Teachers Association.

Maryam Arjomand surrendered herself to detectives from the Major Fraud Unit on Monday.

Arjomand was accused with stealing more than $57,000 from the E. Rivers Elementary School PTA, according to the Atlanta Police Department.

She was charged with felony theft by taking and was taken to the Fulton County Jail.

Investigators said Arjomand took donor checks and then deposited them into her personal account.
