JEFFERSON, GA (CBS46) -

A Madison County man is in critical condition at an Atlanta hospital after he fell off of a ladder and into an electrical box.

Jefferson police said Scott Pharr, 40, was working on a power supply for Airgas Merchant Gases on Valentine Industrial Pkwy around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The ladder appeared to have collapsed, Pharr fell off, into the electrical box and was shocked.

"One gentlemen, who was working with him, was on the ground but had some superficial wounds. He was burned on the arm. The other gentlemen [Parr] was inside the box still. At that time he looked possibly deceased. Upon further investigation we found him to be alive," said Det. James McNatt.

Parr was taken by Life Flight to Grady Memorial Hospital where he is in critical condition.

A spokesman for Georgia Power said the utility company owns the substation, but Airgas owns the equipment that Parr was working on. The accident knocked out power in the area. A spokesman said it should be restored by 4 p.m. today.

Marty Daniel, the plant manager at Airgas said they heard an explosion. When they ran out they saw Pharr stuck on the electrical box. Daniel said Pharr is a subcontractor who works for an Athens based company called EIM Contractors.
