CLAYTON COUNTY, GA (CBS46) -

Clayton County police are investigating a child's death at the Marquis Grand apartments.

Jaden Harvey, 2, died on his way to the hospital on Wednesday after his stepfather called 911.

Officers said an 8-month-old, a 5-year-old and Jaden's twin were taken to the hospital as a precaution. The 5-year-old is still in the hospital. The other children are in protective custody.

Emergency personnel received a 911 call at 3:30 p.m. for a sick child. Witnesses said the child's stepfather ran out of the house with Jaden and went to the leasing office to call 911.

Larry Williams helped perform CPR on the child.

"(He) was helping as much as he could, but he was hysterical. I kept having him breathe for me. While I pumped, he breathed," said Williams.

Hazmat crews had to make sure the apartment was OK before crews entered the apartment. They determined there was no threat, and investigators started their work.

Police have not released the names of any of the other children or the stepfather.
