One dead, two injured in Fayette County crash

FAYETTE COUNTY, GA (CBS46) -

One person died and two others were injured in a two-car accident at the intersection of Sandy Creek Road and Highway 54 in Fayette County Friday afternoon.

According to the Fayette County Sheriff's Office, Joshua M. Staley, 17, of Fayetteville, was driving his 2008 Toyota Prius eastbound on Georgia Highway 54 when he ran a red light at the intersection of South Sandycreek Road.

Bismarck S. Delarosa, 18, also of Fayetteville, was driving his 2004 Honda Accord south on South Sandycreek Road when he was struck.

Delarosa received serious injuries in the crash. He was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital by Medical Air Ambulance where he remains in critical but stable condition.

The passenger in Delarosa's car, Malcom Williams, 17, of Fayetteville, was transported to Piedmont-Fayette Hospital by the Fayette County Fire Department where he later died from the injuries sustained in the crash.

Staley received minor injuries and declined medical treatment at the scene.

All three men were wearing their seatbelts.

The crash is under investigation and charges are pending against Staley.
