Andrea Sneiderman's assets to remain frozen

Posted: Updated:

A Dunwoody woman awaiting trial for the death of her husband has requested to regain access to the insurance money she collected after he was killed. But Wednesday, a judge denied her request.

Andrea Sneiderman's husband, Rusty, was shot and killed outside of a Dunwoody daycare in November 2010.

Andrea Sneiderman's boss, Hemy Neuman, was convicted in the murder and a grand jury later indicted Andrea on charges of murder, attempted murder, racketeering, insurance fraud, perjury and making false statements.

Following the charges that were filed against her, the state froze the $2 million in insurance money that was given to Andrea Sneiderman.

During Wednesday's hearing in DeKalb County, prosecutors told the judge that they successfully requested that Fulton County freeze the money, because the bank branch Andrea Sneiderman uses is in Fulton County.

"The entity or the branch that the defendant used is the one in Fulton County, so we do believe it is a better venue there," prosecutor Don Geary told the court. "We are moving to dismiss the DeKalb County action."

Rusty Sneiderman's brother, Steven Sneiderman, also filed a motion to put a hold on the insurance money on behalf of Andrea Sneiderman's two young children.

Court documents showed that Steven Sneiderman feared that the money, which will mostly go to the children, will be wasted by Andrea Sneiderman.

Andrea Sneiderman also requested a hearing to have the courts grant her permission to attend religious services, as she is on house arrest. That hearing will take place on Thursday afternoon.
