Cartersville couple arrested in prescription forgery scheme

Cartersville police arrested a couple accused in a prescription forgery scheme.

A three-month investigation conducted by the Bartow-Cartersville Drug Task Force led to the arrests of Stephen Curtis Chapman and Sarah Chapman.

According to the DTF agents, the couple had been working for the Floyd Healthcare Management System at the Floyd Urgent Care on Frank Harris Parkway in Cartersville.

Allegedly, Mrs. Chapman would forge illegal prescriptions that Mr. Chapman would fill at various local pharmacies.  Mrs. Chapman also allegedly duplicated patient names, but changed dates of birth on the prescriptions.

Twenty-five charges have been placed against Mr. Chapman.  Fourteen charges have placed against Mrs. Chapman.  Charges for both include fraudulently obtaining controlled substances, identity fraud, and party to the crime of distributing schedule II, III, and IV drugs. 

The couple is being held at the Bartow County Jail awaiting a bond hearing.  The investigation in this case is ongoing.

The male suspect is not related to Christian recording artist Steven Curtis Chapman.
