One person is dead and another man in critical condition at Grady Memorial Hospital after a double shooting in northwest Atlanta.
It happened at 5:20 p.m. on the 400 block of Paines Avenue. The victims then fled the scene in a vehicle that was driven to Martin Luther King Junior Drive and Paschal Avenue in southwest Atlanta.
"Once shots were fired at that location the victims fled the scene, relocated to this area where they flagged down police officers and advised them of the shooting," Lt. Paul Guerrucci, the homicide commander for the Atlanta Police Department said. "There were three people in the car. The third is not physically injured and is cooperating with the investigation, but at this point we have no motive for the shooting."
According to investigators, one of the men who is in critical condition and now stable was shot in the face.
With two crime scenes being processed, Guerrucci said they are still interviewing witnesses to figure out what led to the shooting.
"In incidents like this we don't rush anything, we work the scenes appropriately. So there is no speculation at this point," Guerrucci said.
