MARIETTA, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -

Police are looking for the person who fired shots during an altercation with another person in a back parking lot at Southern Polytechnic State University and then fled on foot.

The shooting happened behind the Engineering Technology Center at the school in Marietta Tuesday evening.

The victim in the shooting has been identified as Jason Moore, 23, of Cobb County.

Moore is a commuter student of the university who received a non-life threatening gunshot wound during last night's incident.

Around 6 p.m., Cobb County 911 had received phone calls of a possible shooting that occurred on the campus.

University police, Marietta police, and Cobb County police swarmed the school's campus searching for the shooter and the victim.

"I was actually in the machinery class. They announced on the intercom that there has been a crime around the area and we should stay in class and we should lock the doors," said SPSU student Francis Gatonye. "We could have been out there, me and my classmates."

Moore was found at Grady Memorial Hospital and was scheduled to be released from the hospital Tuesday night.

"This was truly an isolated incident between these two individuals and was not affected by the campus at all," said Baldwin. "There was nothing directed toward the campus and there was no active shooting after these two had split up and left."

Police urge you to call if you have any information regarding the shooter or his location.

The investigation is still on going and detectives are currently following up on leads they have received.
