People all over Metro Atlanta are winning big bucks playing the Georgia Lottery.

Chadwick Steelman of Marietta matched the first five winning numbers from the Sept. 26 Powerball drawing and claimed his $1 million prize Oct. 3 at Georgia Lottery headquarters in Atlanta.

AMPM Woodstock Convenience Store on Highway 92 in Woodstock sold the winning Powerball ticket.

Raven Ward of Marietta won $400,000 from the instant game 20X The Money.

Super H Mart on Highway 85 in Riverdale sold the winning ticket.

Karen Privette of Adairsville won a $1 million top prize playing the instant game 50X The Money.

Big Shanty Superette on S. Main St. N.W. in Kennesaw sold the lucky ticket.

"I scratched it at the back of the store," she said. "There were tears, and I felt joy and excitement."

Georgia Lottery representatives presented Privette with an oversized check Friday at the store where she purchased her ticket.

"I want to pay bills, pay off my daughters' cars, pay off mine, buy my husband a car and pay off my mom's credit card," Privette said.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $13.8 billion to the state of Georgia for education.
