DEKALB COUNTY, GA (CBS46) -

DeKalb County arson investigators have determined that someone intentionally set the fire that destroyed a daycare center early Tuesday.

Fire crews arrived at the Daydreams Early Learning Center on Flakes Mill Road just before 1:30 a.m. Tuesday after multiple calls to 911 reported smoke coming from the building, according to Battalion Chief Christopher Morrison.

The building is a total loss, he said.

"From the exterior, it doesn't look that way because it's a brick structure, but on the inside, it's 100 percent gone," Morrison said.

Arson investigators later determined that someone broke a window to gain entry into the building and used an accelerant to start the fire.

"There were multiple points of origin," said Dep. Chief Norman Augustin.

No injuries were reported in the fire.

Augustin told CBS Atlanta News that on Monday, approximately 20 hours before Tuesday morning's fire, firefighters responded to a smaller fire at the same facility which investigators also determined to be the work of an arsonist. In that case, a fire extinguisher was used to douse the flames.

Authorities now are looking into whether the same arsonist came back Monday to finish the job. Arson investigators are working strong leads, Augustin said, adding that they have ruled out the owners as suspects.
