On Monday, Cpl. Luke Reynolds with the Acworth Police Department had no idea his shift would end with him and another man being called heroes.
At about 2:30 Monday afternoon, Reynolds said he got a call over the radio about a person down.
When he got to the Quiktrip at 3888 Cobb Parkway, he saw a bunch of people surrounding a woman, Margaret Kehrt, 74, of Dallas, on the ground.
"At that point, there was no signs of life," Reynolds said. "The victim was pale white with blue around her mouth and lips. Her eyes weren't moving and she was motionless."
Reynolds' dash cam video captured the tense moments as he worked with a man who identified himself as an ER doctor - Dr. William Zorn of Watkinsville, GA.
Zorn performed CPR while Reynolds began mouth to mouth. For nearly 30 seconds the video shows Dr. Zorn doing multiple chest compressions trying to bring the woman back to life. The woman's husband helplessly watched over the doctor's shoulder as the pair desperately tried to save his wife's life.
"We did our CPR, and in just a few minutes she was coughing and gasping for air, and then by the end of it she was answering our questions," Reynolds said. "She was still out of it but asked us for water."
"It is still going through my head, it is still pretty surreal, just really unbelief," Reynolds said. "You see someone there motionless, breathless, probably on the brink of death, if not already there and it's like something you see on TV in the movies."
Reynolds can't remember the last time he went through CPR training but said when he needed it the most he is glad all that knowledge came rushing back.
There is no word on Kehrt's condition after she was sent to the hospital for treatment.
