ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -

The massive weather event known as Superstorm Sandy seems to be taunting a woman who shares the storm's name.

Magdelene Sandy has been stranded in two different airports ever since the storm pounded her home state of New York.

Sandy told CBS Atlanta News that she was on vacation in Africa when the storm hit. Her original flight from London to New York was canceled, leaving her no choice but to sleep in London's airport.

"I stayed there for two days," said Sandy, a nurse technician who works in Manhattan.

She flew to Atlanta Tuesday night with hopes of having a better shot at catching a flight to New York. But she's not having any luck here either.

"They told me that there's no flights until Friday," she said. "I'm stranded here."

Flights were beginning to resume to New York's JFK airport Wednesday morning, but flights to LaGuardia and Newark airports were still canceled.
