Child dies at hospital after accident in Cobb County, driver to face charges

COBB COUNTY, GA (CBS46) -

A 19-year-old will be facing charges after a child died in the hospital after a crash on Concord Road, according to Cobb County police.

According to investigators, Sharone Gadsden and a child were headed southbound on Hurt Road while Julian Guzman was driving westbound on Concord Road on Saturday afternoon.

According to witnesses at the scene, Guzman ran a red light at the intersection and collided with the driver side of Gadsden's car.

The impact caused Gadsden's car to roll over, and the child was ejected from the car, according to police on scene.

The child was taken to Egleston Children's Hospital.

According to the Cobb County Medical Examiner's Office, the child died on Oct. 30 as a result of the injuries from the crash.

Charges are forthcoming for Guzman for failure to obey a traffic control device and second-degree vehicular homicide.

Charges are also forthcoming for Gadsden for failure to secure a minor in a seatbelt.
