Pothole Patrol: The street that was a stream

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -

For almost a decade, water poured from a storm drain onto Ellis Street in downtown Atlanta.

Few people gave much thought to the leak, more of a nuisance than anything, although it poured down Ellis and ran two blocks down to Spring Street.

It was there that Pothole Patrol found a second leak coming from a Westin Hotel drain.

Over the years, the water did its share of damage to the roads. But last Spring, Pothole Harry started making calls.

Atlanta Watershed Management started an investigation, found the source and got building owners to stop the leaks.

The roads have been properly patched.

On Thursday, for the first time, Ellis, Carnegie and Spring streets are dry.

Atlanta city government at its best, thanks to Atlanta Watershed Management.
