Sex assault victim says sketch of suspect is 'spot on'

Posted: Updated:

A woman who says she's one of the four victims in a string of sexual assaults in DeKalb County tells CBS Atlanta News that the sketch just released by police is spot-on.

"That's exactly him. It is him," said the 29-year-old woman.

CBS Atlanta News is not identifying the woman because she may be the victim of a sexual assault. She said she was attacked on Oct. 13 in her apartment complex on Hambrick Road near Memorial Drive.

"It was a guy, young man, walked up to me and asked me if I had any marijuana," she recalled. "I told him I didn't smoke."

She said she tried to walk away, but he didn't let up.

"He kept saying, ‘You're ignoring me.' He asked me if he could touch my behind for ten dollars. So I stopped and asked him, ‘Who do you think I am?' So I kept walking, and then he ran up behind me, grabbed my behind and hit me in my mouth," she said.

DeKalb County police said all four victims describe similar attacks. The man never produces a weapon. He tries to chat up his victims, and in some cases, he tries to take off their clothes.

"I was shocked," said the woman, adding that her jaw and lip were swollen for a week. She said she hopes all of her neighbors see the sketch.

"I think [police] need to catch him because before he came toward me, he was walking toward some kids by the mailbox," she said. "And I'm kind of happy that he came toward me versus the kids."

This is not the first time women in the area have been victimized. Two years ago, 10 women were raped and sexually assaulted. The suspect in those cases, Trevor Blue, is awaiting trial.

Anyone with information that can assist with identifying the suspect in the latest cases is asked to call the DeKalb County Police Department's Special Victims Unit at 770-724-7710.
