ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -

Atlanta police are searching for a man who robbed two women in Buckhead and fled from police early Friday morning.

A woman was parked in front of her house on Holmes Street and ran back inside, leaving a friend in the front passenger seat sleeping, according to reports.

As the victim walked back to her car, a man came running at her and grabbed her hair.

The man began to yell and demand money, according to the victim. He then forced her back to the car and took their purses.

The victim told police she drove off, but the suspect followed. When she was on Northside Drive she saw an Atlanta police officer.

While she was explaining her story, the suspects pulled up behind.

When the officers went to speak with the suspect, he fled the area.

The suspect got on the expressway and headed south on I-75. He exited the interstate at Cleveland Avenue and continued to Mt. Zion Road, according to reports.

Officers said the suspect ditched his car in front of Avalon Ridge Apartments.

Police are still searching for the suspect.

The victims' items were recovered inside his car.
