Cobb County voters enjoy short lines at polls

COBB COUNTY, GA (CBS46) -

CBS Atlanta News stopped at several polling precincts in Cobb County on Election Day.

Carol White couldn't wipe the smile off her face. She cast her ballot at lunch time in less than five minutes.

"It took me longer to drive here than it took to vote and I just live down the street about a mile," White said.

It was much different than the hour and a half wait time at the Cobb Government Service Center for early voting.

"I did consider coming for early voting but because there were so many people in line up and down the street I just decided to take my chances and come on Tuesday," White said.

It's a decision that paid off for most Cobb County voters.

"No line?" CBS Atlanta reporter Adam Murphy asked.

"No, we walked right in," Cobb County voter Judi Chimera said.

It didn't take long for voters at Mt. Bethel Christian Academy to voice their opinion about the importance of the election.

"Obama all the way," Cobb County voter David Sweet said.

Over at Dickerson Middle School, CBS Atlanta News spoke with another passionate voter.

"I hope everybody votes for Romney, that's what my hope is," Cobb County voter Ben Switon said.

Cobb County's director of elections told CBS Atlanta News that they had not experienced any major issues at any of their polling stations.

"It was very smooth; we had no problems whatsoever.  It was very quick," Cobb County voter Kevin French said.

So on this Election Day most voters were upbeat, despite the cold and damp conditions.

"I think it really will come down to the wire. I really do and it seems like they are getting a lot of people out to vote which is wonderful because you need a good representation of people in the country and if it's close, may the best man win," White said.
